About TrendinTech
Who we are
TrendinTech is a technology news and analysis site that has been publishing since 2015. We cover the parts of the industry that change how people work, build and play: artificial intelligence, security, cloud infrastructure, startups, hardware, software, gaming and mobile. The site is published and operated by Orkatek from its office in Brooklyn, New York, and this edition is written for readers in Ireland.
We write for people who want to understand what a piece of technology news actually means. That includes engineers and IT staff who have to live with the products we cover, founders and operators watching the market, and readers who simply want a clear, honest explanation without the hype. Our job is to report what happened, explain why it matters and say plainly when something is still unknown.
What we cover
Our coverage is organised into eight desks. Each desk has a defined beat so that stories land with the reporter who knows the ground.
- AI & Machine Learning: models, tooling, research results, enterprise deployment and the policy questions that follow them.
- Cybersecurity: vulnerabilities, breaches, threat activity, defensive practice and the regulations that shape security work.
- Cloud: infrastructure providers, platform services, pricing, outages and the trade-offs of running systems at scale.
- Startups: funding, product launches, business models and the companies trying to change an established market.
- Hardware: processors, devices, components, manufacturing and the physical side of computing.
- Software: operating systems, developer tools, applications, open source and the practices behind building them.
- Gaming: consoles, PC gaming, studios, platforms and the technology that runs games.
- Mobile: phones, tablets, wearables, mobile operating systems and the app ecosystems around them.
Publishing since 2015
TrendinTech launched in 2015 and built up an archive of 1,277 articles between 2015 and 2023. That archive stays online as a record of what was reported at the time. Where an older article has been revised, the article shows the date it was updated so readers can tell what was original and what came later. The archive is a useful reference for how products, companies and ideas developed, and we treat it as part of the site rather than something to quietly rewrite.
The editorial team
Our newsroom is organised by beat. Every piece we publish is the responsibility of a named reporter and is reviewed by an editor before it goes live.
- Niamh Gallagher, Editor-in-Chief. Sets editorial direction, signs off on standards and policy, and has the final say on corrections.
- Cillian Brennan, Senior AI Reporter. Leads coverage on the AI & Machine Learning desk.
- Aoife Keating, Cybersecurity Analyst. Leads coverage on the Cybersecurity desk.
- Eoin Mulcahy, Hardware & Gaming Reporter. Covers the Hardware and Gaming desks.
- Darragh Flynn, Cloud & Software Reporter. Covers the Cloud and Software desks.
Each author has a profile page on the site listing the stories they have written. If you want to reach a specific reporter with a tip or a correction, write to the editorial mailbox below and mention their name in the subject line; the message will be passed on to them.
How we work
Our full standards are set out in the editorial policy. In short:
- Sourcing. We prefer primary sources: company statements, filings, documentation, published research, and people with direct knowledge. Claims that come from a single secondary source are attributed as such.
- Verification. Facts, figures and quotes are checked before publication. If we cannot confirm something, we say so rather than leaving it out of the reader’s view.
- Corrections. When we get something wrong, we fix it on the article and note what changed. We do not quietly edit errors away.
- Independence. Coverage is decided by the editorial team. Advertisers and sponsors do not get a say in what we cover or how we cover it, and anything paid for is labelled as such.
- AI assistance. We use AI-assisted tools in parts of our research and drafting process. Every article is reviewed, checked and approved by a human editor before publication, and the editorial team is accountable for everything that appears under the TrendinTech name.
By the numbers
| Measure | Figure |
|---|---|
| Publishing since | 2015 |
| Articles in the 2015 to 2023 archive | 1,277 |
| Coverage desks | 8 |
| Named editorial staff | 5 |
| Publisher | Orkatek |
| Office | Brooklyn, New York, United States |
We only list figures here that we can stand over. We do not publish audience or traffic claims on this page because those numbers move constantly and are easy to present in a misleading way.
