Lenovo is a Chinese company that became leading firm after buying the Think Pad – IBM’s laptop brand -, they used the famous brand name excellently and became dominant in the laptop market.

Lenovo also followed the quality of IBM laptops and added more to the Think Pad brand name. And in a short time, they became on of the strongest technology company in the world. Last year they decided to enter the smartphone market. Like they did with Think Pad. They bought a famous brand, this time, it was Motorola. They bought the struggling brand from Google in a deal of worth $2.91 billion.

And they decided the shorten the name, instead of Motorola it will be called Moto. The slogan will be Moto by Lenovo.

Motorola brand will help Lenovo to sell more smartphones, but this market they are about to get into is very competitive. They will need more than a just a new name to catch the whales of this market.

Fingerprint sensor was little bit sci-fi for many of us until they started to be used by smartphone producers. And we loved them instantly, now it is a must for most of us. They keep our data safe; we don’t need to enter the password every time thanks to these sensors. But still someone makes the users fingerprint copy and reach the data that desired.

This is where the new fingerprint sensor of Qualcomm came. The new sensor instead of using a 2D image of the print, it sends ultrasonic waves to create a 3D information of every nanometer of your finger. It’s called Sense ID, because of the ultrasonic waves the sensor doesn’t need to touch your finger. It can send waves through a bunch of different materials, like glass, steel, sapphire and plastic. In the future, we might see some new smartphones that scan your fingers under the LCD screens.

BMW’s New ” Google Glass ” like technology for Motorcycles Riders.

As many of you know BMW not just produce cars, they also produce motorcycle and very good at it. But motorcycle riders has a big problem, they don’t have a display system that show them the information they need while they are riding. They can check their electronic devices or screen but unlike driving a car, this little distractions can be deadly for the rider.

For making the motorcycle experience safer and more fun. BMW’s Motorrad team came up with a display that show the motorcycle riders information that he or she need without taking the eyes off the road. That little transparent display can show; tyre pressure, oil level, fuel level, travel speed, selected gear, speed limits, road sign and impending dangers. And if the rider entered a GPS route, the display can show the directions. This screen that is called ” head-up display” can be used with existing helmet you have. But the helmet that came with the display also have some excellent features, it can record videos from the front camera and back camera that will work as a rear mirror for the motorcycle rider. Rear cam also has another feature; if you are riding with your motorcycle group, the rear cam shows visualized images of the other riders behind you. The helmet and display can be able to control by buttons that located to the handlebar and will have a 5 hours battery life.

It can even sell more than “Google Glass”. Instead, of Glass, this helmet will do something that some group of people desperately need.

Netflix started streaming in 2007, and until this day they were streaming to 60 countries. Now they expand their range to 190 countries. It almost all World. Just some part of the Middle East and China left, which they don’t start streaming yet.

The last expand is what Netflix needed for staying alive in the future of streaming wars. Many big companies began to enter the market, for example; Amazon, Sony, and Google just some of them. Apple decided, instead of streaming videos for a monthly fee, the company will rent or sell the movies or other type content from Apple TV.

Next step for Netflix is expanding their original content archive. They put some good tv shows lately, like Marvel’s Daredevil and Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Narcos, Sense8, Grace and Frankie, and Marco Polo. Added new documentaries into their streaming content. And They will also produce some movies just for Netflix users. I am hoping that they will be better than “Ridiculous 6.” The movie was really ridiculous, they need to give me a monthly fee to watch this film. Anyway, In 2016 company will release 31 new original content for their users.

This last move of Netflix, make us see a good future for the company but still need to make more high-quality content to keep people interested into their service. Yes, Netflix future looks bright, but now they need to work harder.

New Balance Developed A Smart Watch With Intel

CES 2016 event held in Las Vegas, during the event Intel announced that the company has developed a smartwatch with New Balance. And famous sportswear and equipment brand New Balance will also try to take some share from the smartwatch industry after its competitors like Nike and Adidas.

The smart watch to be developed specifically to appeal to runners. In May 2016; New Balance will also offer the shoes that developed by Intel by using the RealSense Technology. Users will have access to all the details of the performance during sports with this special running shoes and smart watch. Another information is that the new smartwatch will be released in November, and it will be based on Android Wear OS.

Intel CEO Brian Krzanich and New Balance CEO Rob DeMartini said that athletes will increase their performance with this new smartwatch. News balance will compete with very strong rivals like Apple Watch, Casio, Swatch, Fossil, Nike+. This competition will be fascinating.

Microsoft Band 2 Allows Voice Control To Your Volvo

Sweden-based car manufacturer Volvo started a new partnership with Microsoft. The company announced at the CES 2016 that new Volvo cars can be controlled by voice through Microsoft’s smart wristband which is called Microsoft Band 2.

Microsoft Band 2 will allow you to control your Volvo vehicle by using the application called “Volvo on Call”. This feature allows Volvo owners to talk to their cars and remotely control it. The car owner can say something to the Microsoft Band 2 to control the vehicle, such as saying ‘Set navigation’, ‘Turn on the air conditioning’, Lock doors’, ‘Turn on the headlights’ or ‘Horn’.

The Vice President of Volvo car group Thomas M. Müller who is responsible for electric and electronic technologies commented on this issue and said ‘the voice control is just the beginning, we will add new features to our cars’ digital assistant functionality. Volvo Press referred to KITT in the series of Knight Rider, and it was announced in the Volvo press release that; Volvo and Microsoft are bringing back the voice control feature in a humorous way.

For now, you are only able to watch the promotional video of this feature. However, voice control will be used if you have the latest models of Volvo in the spring of 2016.

Another Transformer movie and it is not going to better than the previous ones. Don’t understand me wrong, I like Micheal Bay movies. Some of his movies that enjoyed watching, like Armageddon, The Island, Bad Boys 2, Pearl Harbor and The Rock. You can’t see them as a piece of art of the cinema industry, but they were fun to watch. But the Transformers movies, just sucks in many ways.

Regular actors, actresses that like models, one of them were a real model, can’t act well. The awful story telling that tried to cover with a lot of explosions and effects. If you want to enjoy the movie, you should stop the understand what is going on. Just let it go, empty your mind. That is why little kids like it, they don’t listen to the movie anyway, just watch.

I am the generation that born 80s, and we were the ones had the toys of Transformers, we had no video game or game consoles. We were the ones make the Transformers what it is today. I was so excited when I first about the movie. Watched the trailer, it was great. But we are grown-ups now, educated, we know physics or other stuff. I don’t know about you but if a movie doesn’t follow the rules of physics it feels stupid to me. Our Transformers toys also became a car, but how the h*ll that Transformers feet to those trucks and cars, it is just not logical. Many things feel stupid; this was just one of them.

In Germany, technicians from Sonnenbatterie came up with this system that will allow the wind or solar power to be stored and traded. This trading system that is planning to launch in early 2016 will be available to anyone on the German grid. The company’s primary purpose is to establish a potential alternative to the utility grid. The CEO Boris von Bormann calls it ” Airbnb of energy.”

There are also other energy sharing programs doing something similar that Germans do. The Dutch platform Vandebron has 38,000 subscribers. Energy consumers pay a monthly fee to contract directly with the clean energy producer. Also, the user can choose their particular energy supplier and producers to get to name their price. In the UK, there is a program just work for businesses between energy providers. But the system that German company came up is let consumer share the energy with each other.

The idea is very efficient and will save millions of dollars worth energy that wasted every year. Hoping that this idea will start to use by other countries as well. The company also begin to install their battery system in The U.S. and here is their website.

General Motors and Lyft Agreed to Offer Autonomous Car Service

General Motors is trying its change the sharing economy in the autonomous car market. The company announced that they invested $ 500 million and collaborated with Lyft to develop a service that focused on autonomous vehicles. Last days, the company Lyft getting stronger against its biggest enemy Uber, now $ 500 million of the investment came from the GM, and there was $ 100 million from Prince Alwaleed bin Talal’s Kingdom Holding as expected.

Other supporters of the record round are Janus Capital Management, Rakuten, Didi Kuaidi and Alibaba. Description of the $500 million investment is that GM and Lyft will work on autonomous vehicles service together. The partnership combines Lyft’s driving mapping, routing and payment technologies with GM’s autonomous vehicle technology. It means that both companies will try to develop calling a driverless car service within the Lyft first. In the long term, Lyft will become a fully driverless car service with all other cars in the market.

The agreement shows that GM is strong-minded to take place in the sharing economy side. The automaker is convinced by choosing this way to offer a better experience, and it is also a safer way to enter a new market with their autonomous vehicles. The cars will be designed for different purposes. Thus, the passengers enjoy their trip so much. Lyft and GM are also working on new rental car centers to offer short-term car rental in the US. It means that Lyft drivers will lose their jobs in long terms. As a note, the active driving number of Lyft is monthly average of 7 million in 190 cities in the US.
