The big win for Vive is; their Consumer Edition providing controllers and Rift having a Xbox One controller and remote control. Rift won’t be selling their touch controllers for some months, and O’Brien considers this way of selling less compelling.

Job Simulator and Fantastic Contraption are free with the Vive, and March’s Game Developers Conference will see more announced. Valve’s Steam Platform will sell the games – so another win for the Vive.

After being tested by GameSpot, the conclusion was that they are superior to any other device on the market when it comes to virtual reality. Playstation VR is also being launched by Sony later in the year although the cost has not yet been announced.

A New Ride Sharing Company Which Will Be Nice To its Drivers

Uber is facing competition from newcomer Juno and as a bonus, the new company’s drivers will have equity in the enterprise. On top of that, they will get less taken by Juno – 10% as opposed to 20% by Uber. Despite this, fare prices will be on a par with Uber.

Co-founder Talmon Marco has told CNN Money, that happy drivers are what they are aiming for, and the customers will also like this. Drivers will be contract workers and will need to be rated 4.70 or above by companies such as Uber. At present, there is no need for the drivers to work exclusively for Juno but can take work from a variety of ride-hailing firms.

New York is the setup City for Juno and already has their drivers signed up. They are quite late to the table as Uber has been active for seven years. They are already present in 380 cities and has managed to get an investment of $8 billion. They do have an alliance of rivals however including Lyft, who are now present in 200 Cities.

Some drivers are not happy with their lot, and this has been the catalyst for driver involvement with Juno. If they go to the market, their drivers will be well looked after. Juno is learning from the mistakes of other ride-hailing companies and working well within the confines of the Taxi and Limousine Commission.

What If San Bernardino Shooter Had Used an Android Phone

Apple has been ordered to support the authorities and unlock the phone used by Farook, who was involved in a major shooting. Next time it could be an Android-based device, and people are wondering, would they refuse to help in the same way Apple have refused. As many companies are using Google’s OS, it is wondered how they will react if they are ever in the same position – although so many other companies would also be involved.

Information via Hioshi Lockheimer states that Google would hold the same view. Bloomberg was told that; the Android boss did not know the details but felt it went away from the standard data sharing protocol. CEO Sundar Pichai believed it would set an example, but was unable to say what Googles response would be.

Apple does not have the encryption lock key that the phone’s owner has, so have only been able to give the FBI information stored in the iCloud according to the New York Times. Google also has strong encryption and regularly refuse to hand over information.

As manufacturers put in their security systems, and can also alter an Android source code, that is causing their system to be less secure. It would be hit and miss as to whether it would have been easier to crack the code had it been an Android phone involved in the San Bernardino incident.

The US Authorities Have Approached VW About Producing Electric Vehicles

Volkswagon group still struggling to solve the problems with their 600,000 diesel vehicles, all need to be fixed due to false emission readings, and the U.S Protection Agency is working with VW to correct this problem. It will be a worry to VW that legal claims are likely, and as yet a fix has not been found.

Along with the vehicle manufacture facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee, there will be charging stations set out across the United States. As yet it is not clear if the request is for new models to be designed or the existing hybrid and electric cars to be produced.

A VW spokesman has stated that; negotiations were taking place, but the details were not being released, and there would be no comments. It is however known that VW Chairman of the supervisory board Hans Dieter Poetsch was ordered to update Alexander Dobrindt the German Transport Minister on the problem. Promises were made that solutions would be found, and the impact on company members would not be a consideration.

Further details are not available although there was confirmation of the February 16th meeting and that the VW head of group government relation Thomas Steg was also involved. According to Bild am Sontag, the final report of the emissions scandal will be presented to law firm Jones Day in April.

Lithium Will Become the Most Wanted Mineral

The rise in the sale of electric cars is going to lead to an increase in the demand for Lithium-ion cell and battery packs. As Lithium-ion is vital for the batteries for electric vehicles, additional raw materials will be required and already there is an increase in mining for lithium in the Australian outback. Already prices of lithium carbonate have risen by close to 50% and according to Citigroup, there will have been a 64% rise between 2015 and 2020.

Pibara Minerals Executive Director Neil Biddle told Bloomberg that there is an enormous demand due to the increase of electric buses, cars, trucks and bikes. There are three sources of lithium – mining, recycling and also it is produced when brine in salt ponds evaporate. Mining is by far the most expensive but quicker – and that is often the primary factor.

All this is good news for the miners although their enthusiasm may be too high as China was considered to lead the rise in demand. They are aiming for 5 million “new energy” vehicles to be in use by 2020, and these will all be electric, hybrid or hydrogen fuel cell. Nanjing has seen the building of a new plant where each year there will be 50,000 battery packs produced.

The downside in China is that subsidies will be phased out, but good news for Australian miners is that Tesla wants to be producing half a million such cars a year by 2020.

The Former Boss of the NSA and FBI is Supporting Tim Cook

The mass shooting in San Bernardino become a global news after FBI asked from Apple to help them to hack the shooters smartphone which is an iPhone 5C.

And many people around the world divided into two sides about Apple should help or not. Of course, Tim Cook wants to help or any other people who against FBI’s demand but, this so-called backdoor can cause some problems in the future. Micheal Hayden, who were head of the NSA and CIA, told USA Today; he is against to force the tech companies to create a backdoor for smart devices. Yes, it will make it easier for the authorities to access the information in smart devices but it also give access to the people who can use this weakness for themselves to steal important information data from the users. And, take an advantage of this ” universal weakness”.

Many think, FBI request of hacking the smartphone may not be helpful because it is highly possible shooter already erased the all important information data because they don’t think, he would guess hacking his iPhone will be that hard. so the underline purpose of FBI is getting access to all smart-devices all around the world.

AT&T and Intel Wants to Connect Drones With 4G Network For Fly Further

Drones are becoming more and more important in daily life, and AT&T are hoping to connect them, in the same way, they want to connect cities and cars.

Joining forces with Intel, they are hoping to find a way to fit drones with 4G LTE connectivity. If they achieve this, it will play a significant role in allowing drones to fly higher than normal. Initial work will be viewed in Barcelona as it will be shown via the Intel Drone Zone at the Mobile Word Congress trade show.

This partnership further advances drone technology as both companies look to drones as a delivery vehicle and source of photography and residents want them as fly as a hobby. Drones are limited at present as they use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, but with cell phone network assistance, their limits will now be battery length.

Head of connected services at AT&T, Chris Penrose explained that already images and information was being moved to much greater areas. The problem is however that until restrictions on travel distances are revoked by the US Federal Aviation Administration; there can only be tests.

As well as photography and delivery, the new connectivity would allow streaming and flight information to be returned by the drone. Many industries would benefit if this were made possible. Intel’s New Technology Group Vice President Anil Nanduri says there is “high potential” and areas that could be covered will be “providing emergency relief.” There would also be less risk of using cell phone network rather than Wi-Fi.

There are however issues such as areas with lack of coverage, but AT&T believe new connectivity will help. There are still questions to be answered, but in the meantime, Intel has Realsense image Recognition technology to promote.

Chinese-owned Volvo is Recalling Cars Across 40 Markets

The biggest Swedish carmaker who bought by Chinese giant has been recalling 59,000 cars across 40 markets. Fault cars have problems with temporarily shutting down the engine. The recall affects five-cylinder diesel models that are S60, V60, XC60, V70 and XC70 manufactured in mid-2015. Owners of the affected vehicles – which are mostly in Germany, Britain and Sweden – are being sent letters directly, and invited to their local dealerships for a short ( 30 minutes ) no-fee fix.

For now, the glitch did not cause any recorded accidents. It can shut down the electrical and engine system while the car is in motion. The problem reported by many drivers of Volvo who said the vehicle is cutting down the system without warning and creating a brief absence of steering and braking. But the car restart both immediately.
