This Maserati Become The World’s First Android Car

Google already implemented Android into the lived of drivers by making the Google app, Android auto available with compatible cars. This interaction of the car through the app on a phone or another device has opened up many new possibilities. Google, however, has taken it one step further and designed an entire vehicle around the Google Auto concept. In 2016, this came in the form of the Maserati concept car.

The Maserati has the Android technology built right into it. The coordinating dash screen is a stunning 13 inches in size, close to the scale of some computer screens. This Maserati could be considered an Android car. The Android technology can be used to control functions of the car. Drivers have become comfortable using the screens in their cars to make phone calls and play music. Things like air condition and heated seats can now be controlled conveniently from this same screen. This brings a whole new level of interaction with your vehicle. The computer is run by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 828 chipset. The display that is behind the steering wheel is also run by this chipset and presents as a 720p.

The screen allow access to all of the regular Google attractions that you might want to use throughout the day. The possibilities are so vast, you may find yourself wanting to simply sit in your car and play with the computer. Unfortunately, there is not a customer available option for the public just yet. This is a concept that must be sellable to be considered. The future of 2017, however, does hold out hope for the introduction of similar models.

Google has brought some exciting technology to the forefront, once again, with the Android Maserati.

This Battery Wraps Around Anything and Charges Itself

Technology has taken some new turns over the past few years, allowing for almost anyone to take all of their information with them anywhere they go. Cell phones have become smaller, then bigger, then smaller again. You can easily find a device to fit your size and data needs. Some of the more advanced concepts have made it possible for devices to be flexible. This flexibility allowed for less possibility of breakage and increased carrying comfort. The one thing holding many devices back from being completely flexible, however, were the lithium batteries.

Until now, this was the one thing that had to remain in its original form. New technology, however, has made this item flexible now, as well. The wires involved are made longer to allow for more movement in a variety of directions. There are narrow tiles of a lithium-ion battery included in this concept. A soft rubbery material is used to bond them. This power source can stick to different surfaces, and is even able to charge itself, eliminating the need for frequent charge breaks.

The battery has been a problem up until now, because when a battery is created smaller in size, they do not have the capacity to hold an adequate charge. These new batteries will hold a decent charge, but should, still, not be considered for heavy duty power tasks. This, however, is a great option for daily tasks and communication needs.

Miniscule solar panels were also added to the battery for constant charge possibility. This new battery choice can reach up to 30% of the originating length and still function well. The combination of the new material and the solar panels has solved to crucial problems, flexibility, and longevity.

Clear Sky for Solar Energy

Solar Energy is a very real element of the future of power in the modern world. Efforts to abide by Clean Power Plan requirements and reduction rates have made it necessary to seek other options for power. Emissions must remain under control to secure a future for our planet.

Solar energy is becoming more affordable, which is making it more realistic for people to participate in its use. The costs have gone down 65% in a mere five years. The North American Electric Reliability Corp. (NERC) projects that solar use will triple during the following 15 years. The Southwest Power Pool area could accomplish a 46% solar power usage by the year 2030.

The key to efficient solar energy use is not only the implementation of the Solar equipment, but in storage efforts, as well. Stored energy is a realistic way to save energy for use in times where current energy may need to be supplemented. California, for one, is well set up to be receptive to the addition of solar power and storage. The incrediblely high utility rates contribute to the open minded attitude when it comes to alternative fuel choices.

NERC also explains that wind energy will be an integral part of these changes. Storage and gas-fired peaking plants will help to keep power consistent during times of significant change and adjustment. The possibilities of cleaner energy are starting to look like they will be integrated into our daily lives sooner rather than later.

In Front Of The Screen All Day? You Might Need This Eyewear

We are living in the digital era, surrounded by smartphones, and laptops, etc., with digital screens. The blue light emitted from these backlit screens and LEDs are causing significant harm to eyes. While using the digital devices, the readability is stressful, which causes the stress to ciliary muscles. More than 65% of the Americans experience the symptoms of the Digital Eye Strain (DES) says the Vision Council.

The blue light emanated from the digital screens can damage the retinal cells, and this slow degradation could lead to long-term vision problems like cataracts and AMD – Age-related Macular Degeneration. While it seems there is no other option than to look at these screens, protection is, however, available. The Felix Gray eyewear. This stylish eyewear protects the eyes from the blue light. The lenses in the eyewear, as the company says, filter blue light’s most harmful wavelength (400-440 nm), while allowing “good” blue light to enter (440-500 nm).

Felix Gray introduced their eyewear to ease the stress by filtering blue light, increasing magnification, and reducing the glare. According to Felix Gray’s information, more than 43 percent of the Americans work with computers. That is looking at a computer screen for almost 8-9 hours per day and additionally, the usage of smartphones to check emails, texting and what not. Most companies nowadays are providing dual monitors for their employees. In fact, nearly 8 out of 10 Americans who suffer from the Digital Eye Strain use 2 or more devices simultaneously, according to a 2016 report of the Vision Council. The lenses in the eyewear designed by the Felix Gray have “premium AR coatings (anti-glare)” that prevent up to 99% of glare and protects the eyes.

Finally, in this digital age, it is unavoidable to live without using the digital screens. The only thing we can do to live longer and live healthier is to take precaution and protect ourselves from the damage caused by these digital devices.

Nuclear Fuel Pools Pose Safety And Health Risks

While we experiment with different fuel and power options, many different mixtures of chemicals and dangerous elements have become a part of our habitat. Nuclear fuel pools are one of the concerning results. These are above ground pool type enclosures that contain used reactor fuel. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine have recently warned about their dangers.

Some of the dangers revolve around the possible scenario of terrorism. This threat has forced specialists to look at what could happen if these pools are tampered with. Even a small leak would cause contamination widespread enough to require evacuation of millions of people. This is mild compared to the many deaths from radiation-induced cancer. The results would cause billions of dollars of harm.

The possibilities of a disaster hit home when an earthquake compromised the integrity of the Fukushima Daiichi plant in March of 2011. The ongoing consequences have brought the reality of these complications to the forefront. More than 30 states in the U.S. House these above ground pools. This is an incredibly large population to consider in the wake of a disaster. Professor of Aeronautics and Engineering at the California Institute of Technology, Joseph E. Shepherd, brings to the table the NRC’s refusal to consider the consequences of terrorism of another tampering of these pools.

There is another possible way to store this used fuel. The rods can be removed and stored in dry casks. This has been an option for more than 30 years. The idea, however, has been refuted due to the outstanding implementation cost of $4 billion.

Dangerous elements continue to be part of our modern world, as we try to keep up with the demand for power and convenience. The cost, however, may very well be the safety and health of our environment.

Google Says; Scary A.I. is still ‘Decades and Decades’ Away

Artificial Intelligence has been in conversation and development for a long time. People’s fears have been fed with wild science fiction stories where the computers and robots branch out on their own and take over. This kind of superintelligence is hundreds of yeas away at best, according to John Giannandrea, Chief of Search at Google. This type of complication is a fear associated with the tactic of achieving programming for AI that then results in increase AI. The robot or another machine basically, learns.

Some people research the ethics involved in this type of development. Google remains open with those who study this and supports their interest and concern. Google is determined to make products that assist people in their daily lives. It believes that quality developments are the best way to avert people’s fears. Nonetheless, investors, Sam Altman and Peter Thiel have put $1 billion dollars into the concept of developing AI in a controlled manner with these concerns in mind. Great minds like Steven Hawking have even warned against the dangers.

Google Assistant is the future of AI for Google. CEO Sundar Pichai has explained a little about how it will work. This AI will be in all of your devices, even in the rooms of your home. It will learn about you as you continue to use it. Facebook and Microsoft have also come up with some experiments in the AI world. Microsoft’s Twitter experimented with a Chatbot named Tay. It was the source of some amusement after it began to recite obscenities the closest Google has come so far is a robot arm they demonstrated for an audience. The arm had learned on its own to move one object out of the way to pick up another.

AI is, most likely, a big part of the modern future. The extent to which individuals will allow this technology into their homes is yet to be seen.

Gene Editing Can Be The Answer to Diseases

Gene editing is thought by some to be the answer to sustainability issues and diseases. The ethical debate, of course, has come into play in many realms. The concern that this will lead to gene-edited humans is always a hot topic. The method of transgenesis has been around for 35 years. The addition of this knowledge has led to very few cloning trials, overall. The numerical value, however, does not dismiss the significance. It simply supports that the practice is not taking over as previously feared. The other concern is the possibility of foul play should this technology get into the wrong hands. This is also dismissed as a minimal concern, as many things that are good in some way can be used for bad things by the wrong people. Those in support of gene editing make the case to convince the public of its safety, necessity, and inevitability.

Gene editing, for now, is aimed at soybeans and potatoes set to be planted this fall. There is a two-year window before these foods will be made available to consumers. The practice is already at play in the way breeders select for animals planned for food use. Pigs and cows are often chosen for certain qualities; such has no horns on the cows. These are things that are already happening.

The clinical companies involved are Editas Medicine (Juno Therapeutics), CRISPR Therapeutics (Vertex and Celgene), and Intellia Therapeutics (Novartis).  These companies are all trying to produce drugs that will use genetic editing to cure diseases. It could be years, however before any one drug is successful and approved. It may also never happen.

Another company in the clinical stage is Sangamo BioSciences. Precision BioSciences is already developing its products using ARCUS technology. Sangamo is working on the changing of DNA at a predetermined location to remedy problems. The idea is to correct or disrupt a particular gene to get the desired results, usually relief of illness. HIV/ AIDS is thought to be a possible disease that could be handled by gene editing.

Modified T-Cells have been used recently to treat a Leukemia patient. This breakthrough treatment happened in the United Kingdom. The individual was injected with a gene-edited CAR T-Cell. These modified cells were programmed to kill cancer aggressively. Gene edited cells used for cancer were TALEN (trademark) – based and many foods will be, as well.

The different ways this technology works is to attack a disease at its source and alleviate symptoms being caused by the disease. Many modern treatments aim only to treat symptoms, never being able to cure the disease.

Gene editing is thought by some to be the only way to reach a sustainable future through foods made for healthier consumption. Others argue that genetically altered foods will eventually present side-effects in humans on down the road. The debate is ongoing.

Can Dead Brains Be Brought Back to Life?

The IRB at Anupam Hospital in India has approved Bioquark to recruit 20 patients who have been classed as clinically brain dead as the result of a brain injury. The company wants to revive brain function and will use brain and spinal cord stimulation, bioactive molecules and stem cells. Within 15 days it is hoped that the results will be known.

At present, it seems that death comes in a minute, but in reality, in the dying process, there is brain activity after breathing ends. It is when brain activity ends that the body is dead. Even then it may not be entirely the end as there is a gray area – more than deep coma yet not brain death. Recent findings of neuroscience including neurotransmitter measuring change the way brain death is diagnosed. EEG readings cannot determine if a person can come back or not. Records show that people have been revived after being declared brain dead, hence the research.

Bioquark wants to move stem cell transplantation on and allow the brain to engage in epimorphic regeneration – a process that regrows body parts. The aim of the study is to find basic stem function post treatment. The wish will be for full recovery, but not the real objective of the first study. There is no chance of seeing the brain dead totally come back to life in the near future.

This is an area of study that has not been well developed and any knowledge gathered about the dying brain could eventually help diseases of the central nervous system.

Ontario’s $7 Billion Plan to Fight Climate Change

Canada has plans to become one of the world leaders in greenhouse gas emission limitation. The plan they have in the making will be comparable to those implemented in Germany and California and will top out at over $7 million to become active. The implication of these ideas will begin with over 80 policies geared mainly towards building codes and transportation. Ontario residents may want to start preparing for back to basics approach to transportation, such as bikes. Modern electric cars are also a favorite idea of those working on the policy.

Homes will need to be more energy efficient, and building codes will have limitations by the year 2030 all new homes will be expected to run without the use of fossil fuels. It is hard to say if these tactics will hold up. Canada, as a whole, is still residing far from its 2020 goal of reaching 17% below the emissions numbers of 2005. With the new plan, the numbers state that the province of Ontario alone is aiming to be at 15% under the 1990 levels by 2020, and 30% by 2030. The region has gone so far as to state and 80% below 1990 rate by the year 2050.

READ ALSO: Nuclear Power – is it to be the ‘Next Big Thing’?

Quitting the use of fossil fuels is a task not always easily accomplished. Clean electricity would have to be implemented. Ontario, unfortunately, has the highest electricity rates on the continent. This may make the electric car idea unfeasible. The need to heat homes in the cold weather will also be an expense that homeowners will not cooperate with. Natural gas is a popular and affordable home energy option. These costs will ultimately be passed on to individual consumers who may resist the expensive change. A portion of the monetary support will come from a Green Bank. This will come in the way of 3.8 billion dollars in subsidies aimed at providing solar and geothermal systems.

Money has been set aside to work on significant structural changes. These include infrastructure changes to make biking more convenient, as well as subsidies for fossil fuel companies, and a rail transport system. This plan must move forward at a productive rate.

The plan has not been finalized, and many complications are still being taken into consideration. As with many big changes, there will be monetary incentives for many who agree to take on the challenge and be a part of the solution.

This Startup Build The Next Generation of A.I. Algorithms

Computers are logical inventions. They are meant to organize information and complete numerical tasks without mistakes. However, in the modern world of interactive technology, there is a growing desire to have computer applications that are more human like.

Vicarious is an Artificial Intelligence business based in Silicon Valley. Their visions encompass creative ways of data processing. They are using what they know about information flow through the human brain to bring their ideas to life. Their goal is to add an imagination type of application to their computer processing style.

Companies like Google and Amazon have begun to integrate a process called “deep learning” into their network applications. This system uses computerized neural networks to mimic slightly how the human brain works to recognize and remember things like faces and objects. It can take quite some time for the application to accomplish what the human brain does instantly every second of every day, however.

“Vicarious is bringing us all closer to a future where computers perceive, imagine, and reason just like humans.”

Vicarious has come up with a new version of this neural network process. They use an algorithm that is meant to consider biological appearances. One example of the possibilities lies in the capacity to understand how an individual item might look when faced with a different background or environment. This is the “imagination” that Vicarious is aiming for. Instead of clear, logical data, the newer computers will be able to handle a more conceptual type of information.

Vicarious is about ready to release reports that will outline their new endeavor, after keeping silent on the project for the past two years. The simple offices in Union City are a humble starting point for the company’s vast technological contributions. The offices, however, are adequately equipped with brilliant engineers and state of the art equipment.

The future of Vicarious looks bright, and the CEO, Scott Phoenix believes that the next 15 years holds the key to some rapid changes and updates in the business. There are many obstacles to overcome, however. The information flow in computer neural networks can only go one way while the human brain is much more complex.

The future uses of this technology may involve computers recognizing real world items and using the images to complete various tasks with the data. The future may also hold advances in how computers recognize reasoning and languages, as well.

Vicarious is keeping many of the details hidden until the official information release. However, it can be safely assumed that many exciting and creative new applications are in the making.
