YouTube is the New Black for Teens

I remember back in the day when you had half the choice of what there is today on TV to watch and still it is a declining pastime. Not many families sit down together to watching television for one reason, or another and youngsters nowadays would rather be surfing the net or watching YouTube anyway.

These are the findings based on a survey carried out by Piper Jaffray, the investment bank. Out of the 10,000 teens that took part, it found that more than a quarter of them (26%) watched YouTube on a daily basis, compared to only 25% of them watching TV daily. According to statistics, this is the first time ever that YouTube has overtaken TV in this particular survey.

The survey also revealed that 37% watched Netflix daily while only 3% watched Amazon Prime or Hulu. This in itself is quite surprising as the survey also revealed that more than 58% of households pay to have Amazon Prime. It just goes to show that society as a whole is moving much more towards internet-based entertainment and that TV as we know it could soon become a thing of the past.

On demand services seem to be much more favored by the younger generation and ordinary TV just cannot accommodate that. With the younger generation only more than happy to embrace the likes of internet based TV, it won’t be too long before TV is phased out and YouTube is what we all sit down to watch at meal times.
