Google Flights is an online flight search and booking facility that has been in operation since 2011. Although many people may have heard it, how many have used it? Google may not be the first company you think of when booking your flights, but maybe they should be. Using the same technology that both Kayak and Orbitz use, Google Flights can offer you a host of flights to choose from at your fingertips within a matter of seconds.
Some of the handy little features of this site are that it will allow you to search a whole region rather than a specific place, which is something many travel sites do not do. It will then display a list of all flights and their prices that match your search dates. If there are too many options that come that you are spoilt for choice, then this can easily be narrowed down by using the filter options including airline, flight duration and price.
If you are not sure even what region you want to visit, then just like Google’s search engine, you can hit the “I’m feeling lucky” button and Google will set to work to find you somewhere to go. Just pop in your departure destination and Google will find flights based on your search history and display the results for you. They will also always highlight the best option too. In the “best flights” box it shows the best combination of both speed and price.
This system is very flexible and if you do not have a particular date in mind, then Google flights can return flight information based upon when is the cheapest time to travel to that particular destination. This information is displayed clearly on the screen with the cheapest days highlighted, and will also show you a nifty little bar graph that tells you if prices and likely to rise or drop over time. While on the subject of saving money, there is also a little tip bar that advises how much money you could save by altering the date or airport!
So, now you now how fantastic the Google Flights service is, then why not check it out for yourself next time you want to book something. Or, even if you are just window shopping, you can always search for the best deals and click “save this itinerary” and you get the Google Now app tracking its pricing for you which can be downloaded to your phone to monitor any fluctuations in price. Who needs travel agents when you have Google Flights?
