Roulette wheel with ball in thirteen slot

If you are a gambling enthusiast, then you should be aware of the winning probabilities each type of game offers. This way you will be able to elevate your gaming experience and enjoy better outcomes in the long run. Keeping a track of odds is especially important for roulette players. Since there are different variations of the classic game and each one of them utilizes various rules, the odds of every type of roulette will differ.

Of course, like other games, roulette results depend on luck. If there is no other force meddling with the spinning wheel, the ball will always land in a random socket and there is no way to predict the outcome. The odds of roulette will simply show what are your chances of winning if the luck is on your side. The first thing that players learn when they take interest in roulette odds and probabilities is that European roulette has better odds, compared to American roulette. This is due to the fact that the wheel of the first variant has only 37 sockets, while the American variation adds another socket, making the total of possible winning numbers 38. Keep reading below how CasinoGuardian explains the roulette odds.

Probabilities of Outside Roulette Bets

Generally speaking, each roulette game allows inside and outside bets. While placing money on single numbers within the grit of the roulette table is possible, you can also choose to bet on red or black, odd or even or other groups of numbers. Those types of bets are outside the grit with numbers. While outside bets have a better probability to be won, their payout is considerably lower compared to inside bets.

Many players prefer to place their money on the so-called “even money bets” which is another name for the sections that cover red/black, odd/even or high/low numbers. The probability of winning such bet is almost 50% and the payout is estimated to be 1 to 1. The odds of winning an even money bet on European roulette is actually 48.65%, while the probability of its American counterpart is 47.37%.

The dozens and columns outside bets cover almost one-third of the numbers on the roulette table and they pay 2 to 1. The probability to win a dozen or a column bet is 32.43% on European roulette and 31.58% on American roulette due to the additional double-zero socket.

Probabilities of Inside Roulette Bets

Betting on a single number is known as a Straight bet and due to its low probability of winning, it offers the highest payout of 35 to 1. Those who would like to place their money on a certain number should know that the odds of winning this bet on European roulette are 2.70%, while the probability for those who enjoy playing American roulette is 2.63%.

Another inside bet is the Split which allows players to bet on two neighboring numbers on the table grit. The probability of winning such wager is 5.41% if you play European roulette and 5.26% for the American variant of the game.

There is also the option to bet on a row of three numbers which has a winning probability of 8.11% on European roulette and 7.89% on the double-zeroed variant. Placing a Corner means that you are putting your money on four numbers at once and your chances of winning are estimated at 10.81% on European roulette and 10.53% on American roulette. The next inside bet is called Double Street and allows players to bet on two rows. This stake has winning odds of 16.22% when you play on the standard game with 37 numbers while adding another zero makes the probability 15.79%. Last but not least, there is the option to place a Basket bet on American roulette. It covers 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3 and has a winning probability of 13.16%.

Learning about the odds of each regular bet on roulette will help you decide which wager will be the most lucrative for you. Whether you will decide to play risky and expect a higher payout or get paid less but ensure a bigger chance of winning is completely up to you.
