MULTI Rope-Free Elevator Can Move To Every Direction

While technology whizzes ahead at phenomenal speeds and many things become more and more advanced, this isn’t the case for all items, and one thing that has been left behind (until now) is the good, old, elevator. For well over 100 years the elevator has run on the same cable-based system that it did in the early stages of its existence. Although the mechanism obviously works, and if something isn’t broken then why to fix it, there are still a few changes that could be made to enhance it.

Scientists and engineers have now been looking at a way to revolutionize the current elevator system using magnets.  By using electromagnets rather than cables to drive the elevator on a cushion of air, it would have the ability to move in all directions.  There would be no cable limiting how far the elevators can go and so there would be no limit to how tall skyscrapers could reach. And, with the ability to move horizontally as well as vertically, could bring a whole new architecture of crazy and quirky buildings to our streets.

So, what will the world look like with elevators that are no longer on cables, but being pushed along by cushions of air and moving across the building rather than up it?  If you are having trouble imagining the world with these new elevators, then don’t worry as it will all become a reality sooner than you think and you can experience it first hand!
