BMW showed off its I-Series at the 2015 LA Auto Show, Shadow Sports Edition I3 and I8 didn’t get too much attention, but both cars are critical for the BMW to enter the electric vehicle market, the German automaker is not planning to produce a lot of electric vehicles yet.
Each model works with pure electric motors, sports suspension, moon roof and laser headlights. I-Series will not be mass produced in the very near future, BMW wants to test the vehicles and gather the feedback for future production. The I-Series designed for urban cities especially the I3 model with its small size; BMW has certified many of dealers around the USA to allow them to sell I-Series. The automaker also partnered with Nissan to create 500 DC fast charges around the USA.
I-Series body contains carbon fiber, and this makes the series very safe. BMW representative also said; they are currently working on alternative energy powertrains but for now electric cars makes sense for the company and they are working on improving the I-Series for better consumer experience.
After Tesla, BMW is the second company trying to make significant numbers of e-cars, they are still at the beginning, still Tesla is the dominant and with the new investments Elon Musk’s company for sure be the dominant manufacturer of electric cars market.
