Kids are hard work at the best of time and keeping an eye on them all the time is impossible. With technology advancing every day, it was only a matter of time before the ultimate parenting device was created and it’s nowhere in the form of a tracking device. Similar systems that are already on the market include GPS trackable that are worn off the child’s clothing or wrist that will notify you if they wander off, but these are often expensive and unreliable.
The new tracking device is called Jiobit and uses Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and cellular triangulation using a method that’s not been seen in any other system yet. Other neat features of the device include accurate tracking both indoors and outdoors, a 2-month battery life, and the capability of machine learning technology that can track patterns of a child over a period and notify the parents if anything is out of the ordinary. It looks to be a fantastic product and will be available for pre-order this spring. Although the actual cost of the device remains unknown, estimates are that it will be a similar price to that of the Fitbit ($130). The company has confirmed there will also be a monthly subscription to pay in order to receive the service.
As well as the great device you get with the Jiobit, the app that comes with it is pretty neat too. It will allow parents to invite family, friends, teachers and others to join the network and will then load their phone with a Bluetooth beacon that can be pinged for a more accurate locator. There’s also a “Follow me” feature that can be enabled that will track your child in crowded places such as grocery stores and malls. This little device is an absolute lifesaver for parents and one that can save a lot of time and stress looking for a child who’s simply wandered off. It’s already received $3 million in funding from private investors as they see the potential in the Jiobit. So, if you’re looking for that little extra peace of mind when it comes to knowing where your child is, then look out for the Jiobit launch later this year and get ready to grab yours before they all go.
