Although many of us use Google on a daily basis, the majority of us don’t realize just how extensive this mammoth program actually is. There are various tricks and tips for Google that until very recently I had no idea existed, and some of which are listed below, so check them out and seek to be amazed.
1. A Timer function: Simply type in set a timer and the time and Google will work as a timer or stopwatch for you.
2. Calculate distances: If you need to know the distance between two particular cities just type this in Google and within seconds it will calculate both the distance between them and the time it will take to travel it.
3. Voice search function: This can be used for any Google search. Just click on the microphone icon next to the search bar and use as normal.
4. Built-in Geometry Calculator: Type in solve circle, triangle or rectangle, and a calculator will be brought up that includes a diagram and the equations you need for any minor geometry issues.
5. Graph function: Type in the graph and the equation you want to display and Google will display the results on a graph for you.
6. Currency calculator: Google’s built-in currency calculator will generate currency conversions at the current rate by typing in the amount followed by the three-letter symbol for each type of currency. I.E. 1100USDGBP will give you the conversion for $1100 to GBP.
7. Tip Calculator: If you are unsure how much to tip then let Google’s tip calculator do it for you. Simply put in the amount of the bill and the tip percentage, and voila!
8. Mini Calculator: For those in a hurry this handy little calculator still does trigonometry, logarithmic, and exponential functions.
9. Important Dates Stored: Google is programmed to know all important holiday dates such as Thanksgiving or Easter. Just type in the date you need to know, and within seconds Google will have the right answer for you.
10. Find more of what you like: To get more from Google on your favorite actor, singer or author, simply type in their name in the search and discover a whole list supplied by Google relating just to them!
11. Cool Atari game: Type in Atari breakout to get a revised Google version of this classic game that’s been enjoyed by millions over the years.
12. Zerg Rush: This cool little feature is fairly pointless, but neat nonetheless. Type in zerg rush in Google’s search engine and see what happens as lots of little O’s come to life in front of you.
13. Page tilt: Type in tilt or askew page to bring up a wonky search page.
14. Barrel roll: Do a barrel roll by typing in just that into Google. Why? Why, not!
15. The Answer to Life: Yes, Google even has that, and apparently it’s 42?!
16. Google 1998: Type in Google in 1998 and the search will automatically flick to the retro style of that year
