Carbon emissions throughout the world are something we are all trying to reduce. A country not normally known for its eco-friendly culture is also adapting its ways and investing in the world of solar power.

India is one of the biggest contributors to carbon dioxide emissions worldwide and to try and combat the harrowing effects that is having on their people, wildlife, and environment the government is now investing large sums of money into solar power.  The country has also taken the lead in founding the International Solar Alliance (ISA) that consists of 122 countries, so it is clear of their intention to make a real difference in fighting climate change.

The ISA, although based in India, will become a global entity, drawing in the best skills and talents from all over the globe.  With investments in solar energy totaling over $5 billion in 2015 for India, they are very quickly surfacing as a more active party in the renewable energy world and may soon become one of the leaders in this field if done correctly.

Their recent initiative is to build solar power generation capacity that will total a massive 100 gigawatts by 2022.  This target has only recently been raised by newly elected government and was previously set at just 20,000 megawatts by 2022.  This huge increase in target shows just how dedicated India are to tackling climate change and introducing solar power to its people.

With the cost of solar energy also falling rapidly in India, it will be easier to get the majority of companies and people on board.  Once savings can be seen as well as a more healthy approach to producing energy, India will become a big player in this game which will only lead to good things for India’s economy.
