One fear people have regarding electric cars is the availability of charging stations. At home hybrids can be charged overnight, but battery version needs a level 2 charging station. By using this, the car battery will be recharged in 4 – 9 hours. It will be ideal to have this at home, and many consider having one fitted in the garage that they already have, but this is not going to be an easy thing to do. It will be best of this is installed while the garage is being constructed.
Setting up the station is not a major problem. As you will imagine, it is the wiring that has to be sorted out first, and this needs to be well planned as in time the station will be upgraded to one with superior power.

The 240-volt line must be a couple of feet below the charging station. Be prepared to research this as some electricians will be unfamiliar with this equipment. The circuit must be able to support 50 Amps. A cheaper station may only need 24 Amps but look into the future.

An NEMA 6-50 socket needs to be installed below the chosen. If there are objections to not hard wiring, explain that there may be the need to move the station later on. After wiring, bolt the station to the garage wall. There is the choice of around 12 stations, and big box stores sell them. It is as easy as putting in a drier.
