Could HyperLoop Become the New Way To Travel in Europe?

There has been more hype about the amazing Hyperloop as more companies are looking to jump on board with this funky transportation system.  From French rail company SNCF to President Vladimir Putin, everyone wants a piece of the action of what could be the world’s next public mode of transportation.

The Hyperloop was first discussed by Elon Musk, co-founder of Tesla, back in 2012 at a PandoDaily event in Santa Monica, California.  Soon after envisioning what Musk could potentially do with his ideas, he set to work.  By 2013 a group of engineers from both Tesla and SpaceX worked together to design a model of the Hyperloop concept.

By inventing this new form of travel, we would save so much valuable time.  A typical flight from Helsinki to Stockholm currently takes around three and a half hours.  With the Hyperloop, passengers could make the same journey in less than 30 minutes!  Enclosed in capsules, and traveling at a speed of around 760mph, the HyperLoop One project envisions to transport both people and goods in this way.

The proposed Hyperloop route would cross the Baltic Sea to connect Finland with Sweden. It would deliver much faster travel times than other transport alternatives. HYPERLOOP ONE

Although the initial costs of the project are estimated to be around $21 billion. Experts say that in the long run, we will be saving money if we were to replace the current rail system with the Hyperloop as would be cheaper (as much as 60 percent less than rail), faster and easier to build and maintain.  It would also have the added benefit of being able to run for 24 hours in one continuous loop.

Test tracks and capsules have been built in Las Vegas, Nevada and are currently being used by engineers to carry on building the ultimate Hyperloop.  Exciting times are coming as we look to embrace this new mode of transport.  The HyperLoop One project is not the only one in existence at the moment, with others also aiming to build tracks in Europe within the next ten years, so watch this space and get ready to fasten your seatbelts!
