Apple has recently unveiled their new patented technology that will disable certain features on your phone when in recording prohibited areas. By introducing this new technology, Apple is hoping to stop all of the millions of illegal recordings that occur daily in places where video recordings are forbidden.
This great news for many of the music artists today and theater actors of today who constantly have to battle with people snapping away during live performances. Not only must of be off-putting for the performer, but it ruins it for others that may be behind you while you are constantly holding your arm in the air trying to get a short clip. Not also to mention the damage that it does in sales for the artists, as what is the point of paying to see the live performance if someone is willing to bring it to you?
Apparently, all is not lost, and even in some places where it is prohibited to take snaps, the phone would still allow the use of the camera to snap a friend in the audience. In times where the camera is attempted to be used when it shouldn’t, the cheeky technology will take the picture, but alter the image so that you may just see a blur or watermark to stop the illegal activities.
I can see this taking off for event holders of live events as it gives the performers a sense of security and privacy to only those that have purchased tickets, and also to that of the audience in knowing that they will be able to see the whole performance and not just a sea of arms holding phones.
