Apple’s New Falling-Cat Patent to Keep Dropped iPhones Safe

Most of us have dropped our mobile phone at some point, and while some phones survive the fall with very little damage, others do not.  Mobile phones are not cheap and having to repair or replace them because of damage caused by accidentally dropping them is not an expense anyone wants to incur.

To try and combat this problem that affects thousands of people daily, Apple has come up with a solution that has been inspired by a cat and the way in which they always seem to land on their feet when they fall.  This latest creation of Apple’s will hopefully save millions of people from costly repairs or replacements when they damage their phone unexpectedly.

Apple's New Falling-Cat Method Patent to Keep Dropped iPhones Safe

The patent was granted to cover a protective mechanism for an electronic device and lists a number of methods within it including using a weight inside the phone to change its orientation when falling, motors used in vibrating, attaching wings, and even using external gas nozzles!  And, with it being the only patent of its kind, the possibilities are endless and are as crazy as those that are inventing them.

Although they will probably never make a phone that is completely indestructible, it is nice to know that at least Apple is doing something in the way to help their millions of customers protect their phones.  So, thanks mother nature, for the inspiration, and for hopefully saving us clumsy phone users a lot of money in the near future!
