Tesla Model X is Too Heavy to Legally Ride on The Brooklyn Bridge

New Yorkers have a penchant for large cars that would normally be considered at home in the countryside. They use lots of gas and pedestrians have little chance of survival if they find themselves in their way. There are a growing number of people thinking that LTVs and SUVs they should be banned from cities.

It is dangerous for other reasons to drive in NY as some bridges are not designed for vehicles as heavy as some of them and yet police at either end of the bridge ignore them entirely.  Bankers are free to get from Wall Street to their homes in Brooklyn Heights with the illegal use of those big cars.

Other cars are close to the limit for the bridges, as the likes of Bentleys and Porsche Cayennes full of passengers and goods will be risking going over the limit.

The Tesla has given some a shock as its curb weight puts it under 6,000 lbs but a GVWR puts it as over 6,700 pounds.  This is deliberate, and as it will be classed as a work vehicle, there could be around $25,000 taken off the purchase price thanks to the Section 179 deduction.

The time has come as far as many are concerned to take on the drivers and considering it has been an issue for around 10 years, the NYPD may find calls for them to be arresting more drivers and confiscating cars on the bridge.
