Cars are a lifestyle for the Americans. They choose cars according to their jobs, hobbies or other needs. We listed Top 20 list which models Americans mostly bought in 2015. It looks like Japanese and American car manufacturers are fiercely competing to enter Top 20 list. There is ten American-based, nine Japanese-based and one Korean-based company in top 20 list.

Light-duty truck sales are higher than car sales, and the difference is about 2 million. If we analyze the YoY growth by manufacturers, Alfa Romeo has the highest growth. Tesla is the forth one by YoY (2014/2015) change. And as you guess, VW sales decreased -4,8% because of the emission problem. 77 percent of the market dominated by six manufacturers which are General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Toyota, Chrysler, Honda and Nissan. All the numbers say that American and Japanese cars because of their low maintenance costs and usefulness. And German manufacturers have to understand customers needs to gain more market share.
