Huge Improvement Seen in One Drop’s CareKit App for Diabetics

This year we saw a breakthrough in the medical world as One Drop’s Blood Glucose Monitor launched on Apple.com. This fantastic little app allowed users to get their results direct to their phone in a matter of seconds. After just a few months of being released, the company has reported that the kit has sparked a “substantial improvement in glycemic control.”

The study used data from One Drop mobile app users with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes and that have followed the guidelines as laid out on the company’s website.  This requires users to enter two glycated hemoglobin (A1C) values into the app at least 60 days apart.  Initially, on average, One Drop users experienced a reduction in A1C levels of about 0.7 percent. Recent analysis, however, shows that it’s now up to around a 1.0 percent decrease in A1C levels.

Statistics show that the more its users visited the app and used it to monitor their blood glucose and food intake, the better their A1C levels were. Jeff Dachis is founder and CEO of One Drop and he says, “The improvement in A1C we’ve seen among our users is often achieved with drugs, but rarely, if ever, seen with self-care interventions.  With One Drop, we are delivering a well-designed, evidence-based diabetes solution that provides cost-effective, comprehensive care to anyone, anywhere in the United Sates and, soon, anywhere in the world.”

There’s even an on-demand coaching service called “One Drop Experts” for the app that’s available when you purchase the Premium plan, giving you 24/7 support from Certified Diabetes Educators.  So, if you are one of the several million people that could benefit from using this app, why not give it a go?  It will cost you $99.95 for the One Drop Blood Glucose Monitoring Kit on Apple.com.  However, the One Drop for Diabetes Management app is free to download. The company will continue to expand their enterprise and help spread the word about diabetic knowledge in the process. As Dachis explains, “We will maintain our focus, empowering everyone with diabetes today to make better choices and lead fuller lives.”
