Most of you are probably wondering what on Earth an inclusive vehicle is. Well, in the eyes of Tesla and what it may be about to offer it means lifetime insurance and maintenance included in the purchase price. How cool would it be never to have to worry about paying your monthly car insurance premium ever again or having to pay to have the vehicle serviced annually? Well, pretty soon, if you buy a Tesla that just may be included in the package for you.
Tesla customers in Asia are now being offered the complete package that will cover insurance and maintenance costs for as long as you own the car. The company is hoping to roll out the same deal across all its markets then. Jeff Evanson, Tesla VP of Global Investor Relations, explained that this idea has taken off quite well in Asia and that the majority of their cars in Asia are now being sold with this insurance and maintenance package as standard.
The company says this move is not an attempt to exclude insurers. In fact, all policies are (at least for the time being) being underwritten by reputable insurers. However, in the future Tesla may decide to take this back and offer an in-house insurance policy instead. Tesla’s in a pretty good position to offer this package really with the safety record of its vehicles taken into consideration. Only time will tell if others will jump on the bandwagon and offer similar deals. Personally, I think it sounds like a pretty good deal for both consumers and auto manufacturers, and I’d be surprised if we don’t see more of these package deals popping up shortly.
