For many people, cars are simply a vessel to transport them from one place to another. If asked a question about the actual mechanics of a car, how many people do you think could answer honestly and get it right, just out of those you know? Probably not many, right? But, if you could look at the engine to see just what happens when it’s fired up it would give you a much clearer idea of what was going on.
Well, now you can, with thanks to the invention of the see-through the engine. In looking at engine this way, you can see exactly how the strokes are all connected and how the intake stroke involves the air-fuel mixture getting sucked into the cylinder. Compression occurs when the intake valve closes, and the piston compresses the gas. Combustion occurs when a spark plug ignites the air-fuel mixture and forces the piston back down the cylinder. The exhaust stroke involves the gas being pumped out of the exhaust valve. Other than that, there’s not much to it!
So, if you have a spare few minutes, and don’t quite know how an engine works, why not take a look online at a see-through one. It really will help your understanding of it all, and you never know when that knowledge might just come in handy.
