Can Scientists Really Prove That Multiverses are Real?

We’ve all seen a TV program or movie such as Dr. Who or Star Trek that displays the realms of an alternate universe in existence. But how much truth is there to this theory?   Although we may not see any results just yet, a new study conducted sets out to proves these multiverses do in fact exist, just like in the Dr. Strange comic and movie.

The ‘Cold Spot’ is an anomaly that spans across 1.8 billion light-years and got its name because it’s cooler than its surrounding area. It was first discovered by scientists when they were studying radiation of the universe, but now is creating more questions than answers. Researcher Tom Shanks said in a recent press statement, “…We can’t entirely rule out that the Spot is caused by an unlikely fluctuation explained by the standard model. But if that isn’t the answer, then there are more exotic explanations. Perhaps the most exciting of these is that the Cold Spot was caused by a collision between our universe and another bubble universe.”

But then the bubble universe is just one many theory that tries to explain away the anomaly. There could be less matter here than in other parts of space or it may be a cluster of small voids. The problem with these two theories is that they don’t address the temperature fluctuation issues. Before any concrete answers can be given, this area of space will need to be studied in much more depth and whatever secrets are uncovered will be exciting nonetheless.
