Could Russia Soon Be on the Wrong End of a Major Cyber Attack By CIA?

According to NBC News, Russia could soon find themselves in a bit of a predicament with thanks to the CIA and their upcoming, unprecedented cyber attack. If the threat does go ahead, then we could see some of Russia’s most unsavory tactics revealed in a number of documents that are already in the United States’ possession.

According to Vice President Joe Biden, “It’s well known that there’s a great deal of offshore money moved outside of Russia from oligarchs. It would be very embarrassing if that were revealed.” It’s not the first time that Russia and the United States have been at each other’s throats, and CIA officers admitted to working alongside the White House in previous cyber war discussions involving Russia. But, ultimately, the decision to attack lies with Mr. President, and so far the idea always seems to have been dropped.

This new threat was apparently in response to the interfering of the county’s elections earlier this year when as many as 20,000 emails were leaked along with personal info and donor data. But, whether a massive war will be sparked between the two or whether it is just hearsay remains to be seen. If the cyber attack were to take place then would it not be the NSA rather than the CSA in charge? And, to be fair, if you were going to launch a massive cyber attack, would you first report it to the news? Probably not, so don’t get too excited.
