It comes as no surprise to learn that Apple has invested heavily in artificial intelligence and augmented reality as CEO Tim Cook recently confirmed. As we shift into a time of the fourth industrial revolution, all industries will find themselves involved with artificial intelligence in one way or another.
Cook discusses in an interview with Washington Post how AI will become a big part of Apple and its near future, and that is what will make their products more essential to consumers. With technology advancing the way it is, smartphones will become more of an assistant than ever before, and Apple is hopeful it will soon become a tool that no one will leave home without. Their performance levels will also be much more enhanced.
Apple is also looking to develop other areas of the company such as with Siri, Apple’s intelligent personal assistant. With Siri, they are introducing gradual improvements to the system which include adding third party developer support, a feature that is already evident in both Amazon and Google’s AI assistants. But, as well as AI, Apple is also investing heavily into the world of augmented reality. Though, how this will manifest itself is yet to be seen.
Because the world of AR is still relatively new and exciting, it is still a subject that is very much behind closed doors for a lot of companies, and Apple is no different. We will just have to patient and see what will come of their large investments in this area.
