Who Needs A Lawyer When You Can Have A ROSS Robot?

Lawyers are expensive people to hire in almost any country.  Although many of us will never require the use of a lawyer in our lives, there are thousands of people that do require their services daily.  Whether they are needed to settle a divorce, sue a company, or defend someone against crime, the truth is that the average lawyer in the United States is far too expensive for the average American to afford.  Shockingly, statistics show that a massive 80 percent of Americans who need a lawyer simply cannot afford one and are having to go without.

However, that may all be set to change with the introduction of ROSS – the world’s first artificial intelligence lawyer.  Having been created by ROSS Intelligence, this little robot is set to change the world of law as we know it.  ROSS has been designed to alleviate some of the everyday, menial pressures that lawyers have to face, such as finding examples for cases.  Rather than spending hours trawling through the endless law libraries, lawyers can now ask ROSS in a completely reasonable question, what they need to know and the robot will spit out the required information in a matter of seconds.  Being linked to IBM’s Watson, you can be sure it has been developed thoroughly and works very efficiently.

The team is hopeful that with the introduction of ROSS in law firms across the nation, much time and money will be saved for all.  Figures suggest that if ROSS was used to its full potential, then a lawyer could save as much as 30 percent of their time in one day.  Another amazing benefit is that by using ROSS for certain tasks, less money will need to be spent on assistants’ wages, and the savings could then be passed onto clients as a cheaper alternative to a human lawyer. There are a limited number of law firms that ROSS has been rolled out to already, with BakerHostetler being one of the first.  The way in which they have decided to employ the use of the artificial intelligence to handle bankruptcy cases.

It is still early days for ROSS Intelligence, but they are already off to a flying start.  The company already have big plans and are planning to have ROSS be able to draft its own documents, build arguments and more.  However, one thing we will not see is them battling it out in the courtroom (for legal reasons of course). But, with their technology being used in a few law firms already, once the real benefits have been recognized, the demand will increase ten-fold, and you can be sure we will be seeing a lot more of these devices popping up across the globe.
