Kevin Chan shares some information on meal planning and weight loss that could help others struggling to eat right during busy work weeks. There are many different ways to handle healthy eating and exercise. Not everyone benefits from the same tactics. Chan struggled with his history of bad eating habits. He was raised by immigrant parents that cooked rarely. When they cooked, they served high carb meals with large amounts of sauces. This is a common pitfall when it comes to many socioeconomic groups. Not all people realize that many healthy foods, like carrots and bananas, are very affordable.
Chan was able to attend the prestigious Berkley University but continued to struggle with his eating habits. His unhealthy food consumption coupled with an odd sleep schedule was a recipe for disaster. He reached 200 pounds during his college years. At only 5’7” tall, he had reached a very uncomfortable and unhealthy weight. Chan made some very good business decisions and found himself involved with a very good business startup for Y Combinator. He made a choice, at this point to get healthy.
He had seen some of his friends cook the weekly meals ahead of time and decided to give it a try. He started with some basic ingredients, such as chicken, sweet potatoes, and broccoli. He then took the time to cook everything and divide it up into meals for an entire week. His first attempt was successful but took many hours to accomplish. He was able to accomplish a more efficient cooking time after gaining some practice.
Part of getting healthy also involved making an entire daily plan from wake up to evening shower. He placed his eating times throughout the day with small intervals. He started to analyze how much of his day revolved around food. It was unbelievable. He added healthier choices, but still allowed for eating often. He ate for various reasons; many may have been emotional. There are many different ways to accomplish a healthy eating schedule. He found one that worked well for him and gave him the satisfaction he needed to stick with it. He also added in a workout schedule. The early mornings were the hardest adjustment for him. The results were well worth it, however.
