Researchers Predict A Massive Rise in the Use of Autonomous Cars By 2040

A recent report published by the world’s largest consulting firm, Accenture, revealed that the use of autonomous cars in our society will increase significantly, focusing particularly on Australia.  They have predicted that by the year 2040 nearly half of all cars on the Australian roads will be autonomous.

Autonomous cars are making themselves known all over the globe and are continuously on the rise.  It is clear to see the many benefits of driverless cars, including allowing more time to be spent as we want to without the need to worry about the traffic and other hazards we find on the roads.

But it is not just automobiles that will benefit from the use of this fabulous technology.  The healthcare, transportation, mining and manufacturing industries are just some of the areas that will also be making the most out of autonomous technology.  Accenture has even thought of the possibility of autonomous cars generating their energy and selling back it to the grid!

Australia is already moving along this autonomous journey at a steady rate as a British-Australian company, Rio Tinto,  has just developed a system that uses driverless vehicles to shift several tons of mining materials in Pilbara, Australia.  Meanwhile, partnerships have been formed between the University of New South Wales and local company GoGet, who are collaborating to build self-driving vehicles for Australians.

Whether it’s mobile or technology suppliers, the public, the government, or even schools, everyone could find a benefit of using autonomous vehicles.  We now have the technology to work with; we just need to increase our understanding to make it an efficient, safe and affordable technology that is readily available to all.
