The US authorities have approached VW about producing electric vehicles according to Welt am Sonntag. Volkswagon group still struggling to solve the problems with their 600,000 diesel vehicles, all need to be fixed due to false emission readings, and the U.S Protection Agency is working with VW to correct this problem. It will be a worry to VW that legal claims are likely, and as yet a fix has not been found.
Along with the vehicle manufacture facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee, there will be charging stations set out across the United States. As yet it is not clear if the request is for new models to be designed or the existing hybrid and electric cars to be produced.

A VW spokesman has stated that; negotiations were taking place, but the details were not being released, and there would be no comments. It is however known that VW Chairman of the supervisory board Hans Dieter Poetsch was ordered to update Alexander Dobrindt the German Transport Minister on the problem. Promises were made that solutions would be found, and the impact on company members would not be a consideration.
Further details are not available although there was confirmation of the February 16th meeting and that the VW head of group government relation Thomas Steg was also involved. According to Bild am Sontag, the final report of the emissions scandal will be presented to law firm Jones Day in April.
