Founded in 2013 in Germany, One of the Europe’s first mobile banking focused initiative Number26 announced six new European Union countries to start operations.
Earlier this year, the Berlin-based initiative was only available in Germany and Austria.Now, it is expected to start in France, Spain, Ireland, Greece, Slovakia and Italy.Number26 will try to develop a non-border banking model.In April of this year, Number26 had received $ 10.6 million investment from one of the PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures.Mobile banking initiative Number26 aims to spread to international markets with new investments and new countries.
Number26 currently has 75 employees and the number of customers has reached to 80 thousand since it began to provide banking services.Number26 aims to reach 100 thousand customers with new countries in January.According to Co-Founder and CEO Valentin Stalf, today traditional banks has difficulty in understanding and adapt to the digital generation.Thus, another major objective of the Number26 will be the bank of digital generation.
