House Building Robots Make Brickwork Stand Out

House building robots are on the loose again, but this time it’s a different firm to that of MVRDV that’s doing it, and rather than covering an Amsterdam Chanel boutique with super strong bricks of glass, they are out to do something slightly different. This time, it’s Chinese firm, Archi-Union Architects that are taking to the streets with house building robots and have created a brick faced that is like no other and looks as if it is defying science.

The structure was created using software that could program the robots to replicate what was on the screen. Then off they went! The robots set to work accurately placing all the bricks into place until the masterpiece was finally complete. Bricklaying robots are becoming more popular for many reasons. The first is that no workers are needed so that labor costs will be almost nonexistent. Secondly, the robots can work 24 hours without the need to stop for lunch or to sleep or anything, so the end result will be produced in a fraction of the time it would take a human to do.

It’s an impressive feat what these robots can do, and if you are lucky enough to be visiting Shanghai in the next few months, it may jut be worth your while to go and take a look at the structure that was built by robots. It’s located in the West Bund district of Shanghai among a bunch of other remarkable buildings that have been converted into galleries and cultural facilities alike.
