Tesla has put a lot of time and energy into perfecting the Model S. Designing and engineering the work of art from scratch; the Model S will give any supercar a run for its money. It can achieve acceleration speeds of 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds and can travel a whopping 315 miles in between charges on its 100 kWh battery. This car is already pretty perfect, so now maybe it is time for Tesla to concentrate on getting its next model up to speed – the Model 3 that is due to launch in 2017.
The Tesla Model 3 already has 375,000 reservations at $1,000 a time, so many eager customers are waiting patiently for their new car to be produced. Let’s hope they are not disappointed and that their car will arrive when they are expecting, as Tesla does have a habit of missing launch dates. Along with preparing the Model 3 for launch, Tesla will also be working on improving its Autopilot technology and ensuring its Giga factory in Nevada is performing up to standard and can produce the 500,000 lithium-ion batteries that are expected to be needed by 2018.

Although the Model S is Tesla’s baby, and it is understandable why they would want to cherish this model so much, but they do need to concentrate on their other areas of the business too. The Model 3 is set to be a car designed with the average consumer in mind. Priced at a reasonable $35,000 it is a way of giving everyone the opportunity to own a Tesla and not just those with massive bank balances. The car will still be Tesla-quick and will have a comfortable range of 200 miles per charge.
