Audi’s Plans To Take Its Share From The All Electric Car Market

Following on from the emissions scandal that parent company, Volkswagen, recently encountered Audi have been busy planning a way that can show the world that they are serious about fuel economy and emissions. The company’s chief executive officer, Rupert Stadler announced that Audi will be moving forward in the world of electric vehicles very soon.

Although Audi’s big plans are yet to be revealed in their entirety, they have let slip that as early as 2018 they will start releasing a new electric model vehicle every year in a race to catch up with others in the autonomous luxury car market.  One detail that has managed to slip through the net is that one of those models has been confirmed to be a subcompact model.  In order for Audi to carry out their master electric plan, it is likely that some of its older models will be dropped from the range to make for the newbies that are set to built from a new plant in Brussels that will also be the production site for Audi’s own batteries.

With the introduction of so many electric vehicles into its range Audi may even begin to give Tesla a run for their money.  Whether their cars will be fully autonomous and have no steering wheel or pedals is yet to be seen.  But, electric is not the only avenue Audi are driving down.  They are also carefully planning for a range of fuel cell cars, but are unlikely to be releasing these until at least 2020.
