Porsche is normally a name that you would associate with smooth, sophisticated, reliable German engineering. However, at the moment it seems the high-class car manufacturer has dropped its guard as its hybrid hypercar, the 918 Spyder, is recalled once again. The problem, this time, is in relation to a suspected problem with the seatbelt system.
Unfortunately, Porsche can not be sure just how many vehicles may be affected, so in order to minimize risks, they are having all of its 918 Spyders recalled to them so technicians can check the seatbelts over and change the incorrect parts if need be, free of charge of course. The issue came to light due to a misprint in the original parts catalog where it incorrectly mixed up two sets of screws about the seatbelt. Porsche are concerned that the mix up in the catalog may mean that there have been mix-ups during production which would be a definite safety concern for those traveling in the car. The catalogs have since been recalled also.
This is not the first time Porsche have made a mistake like this, and it is not the first time that this particular model has been recalled. In December 2014 the 918 Spyder was recalled for having possible issues with chassis parts and then again in May 2015 over dodgy wiring harnesses. There are 918 of these cars that were produced between 2013 and 2015, so if all of these have now been sold it seems Porsche may be busy for quite some time checking them all.
